M&MTB SW6 No 902

M&MTB SW6 No 902

M&MTB SW6 No 902.

No 902 was built in 1945 by the M&MTB Preston Workshops. Its history is similar to that of No 887, but it was fitted with bus type seats in the saloons rather than flip over seats.

This tramcar is the only sliding door tramcar to retain its interior unmodified in as-built condition, retaining saloon bus type seats with green upholstery and wooden drop centre seats. All other sliding door tramcars built by the M&MTB were modified to some extent.

No 902 was allocated to Glenhuntly Depot for its entire service life.

This tramcar is one of eight tramcars on loan to the TMSV from the State Government, being transported to Bylands on its withdrawal in 1991. It will be restored to late 1950s condition, retaining its central headlight.
